2014年，新青年音乐节从山东大学体育馆唱响。2019年起，新青年以大型户外音乐节的面貌正式亮相。2023年，它走过山东7座城市，60多支乐队登台，现场观众超过30万人次。2024年，新青年首次走出山东，落地河北石家庄。十余年间，舞台从校园走向城市，参与者也从高校学生扩展到来自全国各地的乐迷。

但这些数字或许无法解释，为什么年轻人还愿意一次次奔赴。

或许，“新青年”真正延续下来的，并不是某一种音乐风格，而是年轻人表达自己的愿望。

最初的校园舞台，为高校学生提供了展示音乐梦想的机会。十多年过去，曾经登上这一舞台的一些歌手和乐队，已经成为专业音乐创作者，发行唱片，也拥有了自己的听众。

对于后来来到现场的年轻人而言，音乐节也不只是几个小时的演出。

2023年，来自全国各地的乐迷奔赴泰安、潍坊、青岛等地。2026年德州新青年音乐节上，90后、00后占比81.8%，近八成乐迷来自外地。还有乐迷连续三年乘坐高铁来到德州，只为赴一场音乐之约。

音乐因此成为他们认识一座城市的入口。

在泗水，音乐节让这个县城被更多人看见，当地牛肉面等特色消费也进入外地乐迷的体验；在日照，音乐节票根与景区优惠相联动，让一场演出延伸为一次城市旅行；在德州，一些乐迷则从一场演出开始，逐渐熟悉这里的交通、食物和城市生活。

对山东而言，这意味着城市被认识的方式正在增加。

过去，人们认识山东，可能从泰山、海滨和齐鲁文化开始。如今，一些年轻人第一次抵达一座山东城市，也可能只是因为一支乐队、一首歌。

他们不再只是按照一张旅游地图去寻找城市，而是在自己的行走和体验中形成判断：一场演出、一顿当地美食、一段与陌生人的交谈，都可能成为城市记忆的一部分。

城市因此不只是被介绍给年轻人，也开始被年轻人亲自体验、重新讲述。

而音乐节本身也在这种流动中发生变化。

它最初属于校园，却没有停留在校园；它最初只是音乐，却逐渐连接起城市文化、旅游消费和青年生活。从2023年走进山东7座城市，到2024年首次走出山东，新青年音乐节的空间不断扩大，但它始终保留着与年轻人相遇的核心。

这或许也是它能够持续十余年的原因。

年轻人的生活在变化，听的音乐在变化，表达自己的方式也在变化，但他们对于寻找同频者、获得表达空间的需要并没有消失。

一首歌可以成为他们相识的理由，也可以成为他们暂时离开熟悉生活的理由。

而对一座城市来说，迎接年轻人也不只是准备一个舞台。

2026年德州新青年音乐节期间，当地组织志愿者参与交通接驳、现场服务等工作，并进一步将音乐节与青年就业创业、城市文化和文旅体验联系起来。音乐节由此成为一次城市与年轻人相互了解的机会：年轻人体验一座城市，而城市也开始思考，如何让年轻人愿意来、愿意留下，也愿意再次回来。

所以，一场音乐节留下的从来不只是散场后的舞台。

有人在这里展示自己的音乐，有人在陌生城市认识朋友，有人因为一场演出第一次来到山东，也有人多年以后再次回来。

对于一个年轻人来说，这些或许只是青春里很小的一段经历。

但当无数这样的经历叠加起来，一座城市也就拥有了属于自己的青春记忆。

从2014年的校园体育馆，到今天越来越多的城市现场，新青年唱过的歌在变，舞台在变，观众也在变。

不变的是，总有年轻人来到这里，寻找属于自己的那一首歌。

而当那首歌带他们走向一座新的城市，并让他们在音乐之外记住这里，这场青春的奔赴，也就有了比音乐本身更长久的回响。

Why Are Young People Still Flocking to the “New Youth” Music Festival After More Than a Decade?

In 2014, the New Youth Music Festival took the stage at Shandong University. In 2019, the festival evolved into a large-scale outdoor music event. By 2023, it had traveled to seven cities across Shandong, featuring more than 60 bands and attracting over 300,000 attendees. In 2024, the festival expanded beyond Shandong for the first time, with a stop in Shijiazhuang, Hebei.Over the past decade, its stages have moved from university campuses to cities, while its audience has grown from college students to music fans from across China.

But numbers alone cannot explain why young people continue to make the journey.

Perhaps what has kept the New Youth Music Festival going is not any particular style of music, but young people’s desire to express themselves.

The original campus stage gave university students an opportunity to showcase their musical aspirations. More than a decade later, some of the singers and bands who once performed at the festival have gone on to become professional musicians, releasing albums and building their own audiences.

For those who come to the festival today, however, the experience is about more than a few hours of live music.

In 2023, music fans traveled from across China to cities including Tai’an, Weifang and Qingdao. At the 2026 New Youth Music Festival in Dezhou, people born in the 1990s and 2000s accounted for 81.8 percent of attendees, while nearly 80 percent of festivalgoers came from outside the city. Some fans have even taken the high-speed train to Dezhou for three consecutive years to keep their appointment with the music.

Music has thus become a gateway through which young people discover a city.

In Sishui, the festival helped bring the county into the spotlight, while local specialties such as beef noodles became part of the experience for visitors. In Rizhao, festival tickets were linked to discounts at local attractions, turning a concert trip into a broader journey through the city. In Dezhou, some fans have gradually come to know the city through its transportation, food and everyday life, beginning with a music festival.

For Shandong, this means there are now more ways for a city to be discovered.

In the past, people might have come to know Shandong through Mount Tai, its coastline and the cultural heritage of Qilu. Today, some young people may arrive in a Shandong city for the first time simply because of a band or a song.

Rather than following a predetermined tourist itinerary, they experience the city for themselves. A concert, a local meal or a conversation with a stranger can all become part of a personal memory of the place.

The city is no longer simply presenting itself to young people. It is being experienced—and retold—by them.

The festival itself has also evolved through this movement.

It began on a university campus, but did not remain there. It began with music, but has gradually connected music with urban culture, tourism and youth lifestyles. From reaching seven cities across Shandong in 2023 to expanding beyond the province in 2024, the New Youth Music Festival has continued to grow while retaining its original purpose: creating a space where young people can meet and express themselves.

That may be one reason it has lasted for more than a decade.

Young people’s lives change. The music they listen to changes. The ways they express themselves change. But the desire to find like-minded people and have a space to be heard remains.

A song can give strangers a reason to meet. It can also give young people a reason to step away from familiar routines for a while.

For a city, welcoming young people also means more than preparing a stage.

During the 2026 New Youth Music Festival in Dezhou, local volunteers helped with transportation and on-site services, while the festival was also connected with youth employment and entrepreneurship, urban culture and tourism experiences. The event thus became an opportunity for both sides to learn about each other: young people experience a city, while the city considers what it can offer to make young people want to visit, stay and return.

A music festival, then, leaves behind more than a stage after the crowds have gone.

Some come to share their music. Some make friends in an unfamiliar city. Some visit Shandong for the first time because of a concert. Others return years later.

For an individual young person, these may seem like small moments in a much larger chapter of youth.

But when countless such moments come together, they become part of a city’s collective memory of youth.

From that university gymnasium in 2014 to the growing number of stages in cities today, the songs, performers and audiences of the New Youth Music Festival have all changed.

What has remained is the journey: young people setting out in search of a song that feels like their own.

And when that song leads them to a new city, allowing them to remember the place long after the music ends, the journey becomes something that resonates far beyond the stage.

For the 2026 Qingdao West Coast New Youth Music Festival, let’s greet the dawn by the coast and set out once again, ready for a new journey.
